Your Beard Looks Good!

As you may know, I spend a lot of time on Reddit.  I like to help answer questions, share advice, or simple words of encouragement for people unsure about their beard growing over on /r/beards and /r/beardadvice.  I want to share some of what I've talked about this past week.

I've seen several people this week asking if their beard needed to be shaved because of an imperfection here or there.  If you haven't seen it yet, hit up our Instagram @masterfulbeard and look at my beard.  Even at around 8 months, this is as dense as it gets.  And I love it.

So many people are so critical on their beards.  The beauty in a beard is that, given enough time, almost everyone can grow an amazing masterful beard.  There are A-list celebrities who live their lives walking around with beards that are patchy or wispy.  The beauty is that no one notices because they are confident in their appearance.  That's it, they own the beard their face gave them.

Don't get me wrong, there is definitely merit to skilled grooming.  A skilled barber can hit you with a fresh haircut and beard trim that suits your natural beard and head shape.  Find that and your natural beard style will grow into a masterpiece that suits you.

My point is, there are so many things that go into beard growth.   it takes time, commitment, patience, eventually grooming, and maintenance.  It doesn't happen overnight.

I want to take this opportunity and touch on something I'm seeing more and more.  Minoxidil.  In it's own right, it does a lot of amazing things and helps a lot of men grow great beards.  But there are a ton of risks when not used properly.  Up to, and including, hair loss.  Sort of defeats the purpose right? I think the pros and cons of Minoxidil usage definitely deserves an entire post in its own right.

Remember that anything you grow with supplements will change when you change back to a routine without it.  Patience is the key to knowing your beard.  Apply liberal amounts if time and patience and you will see what your beard can really do.
